RYLA Pontian 2016

Message from DG

Congratulations to President Cheng Choon Meng and Organising Chair PP Choo Chor Tek and members of Rotary Club of Pontain for hosting RYLA twice, the first time in March 2006.

Leadership is one of the 5 core values of Rotary and we offer both clubs and pro- grammes to help emerging leaders develop their skills. Through RYLA, participants strengthen their leadership skills, serve community, increase world understanding, build friendships and more.

Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is a leadership development pro- gramme run by Rotary. While participants can be any age, most events focus on secondary school students, university students, or young professionals. RYLA events are typically 3–10 days long and include presentations, activities, and work- shops that cover a variety of topics, including:

  • Leadership fundamentals and ethics
  • Communication skills
  • Problem solving and conflict management
  • Community and global citizenship
  • Going through the RYLA programme is a privilege, an opportunity to experience positive change. Not only is the programme fun filled, it can be life changing too. You will foster long term relationships with the participants. The key to getting the most of RYLA is the right attitude of friendship, contribution and participation.

I believe our young leaders will emerge as better youth, better students, better citi- zens and better leaders after these few days of trainings.

A big thank you to District RYLA Chair PP Henny Goh, facilitators and everyone who has contributed to the success of this important event.

I wish you all an exciting RYLA and wonderful life of service ahead. “Be a Gift to the World”

Enjoy yourselves and have a great learning experience!

    Yours sincerely,
    PHILIP CHONG MAU KIONG
    DISTRICT 3310 GOVERNOR 2015-2016
