PROJECT REPORT: FUND RAISING REALITIES & OPPORTUNITIES FORUM FOR NGOs 2015

The NGO Forum entitled “FUND RAISING REALITIES & OPPORTUNITIES FORUM FOR NGOs 2015 “was held on Saturday the 25th July 2015 at the Panmour Villa Hotel , Klang from 9.00 am – 5.00 pm. It was organized by the Rotary Club of Bandar Bukit Tinggi Klang as a Community Service Project. The MCs were Rtn Jesu and PP Segar.

Objective

The aim of the NGO Forum was to provide a platform for NGOs to learn the necessary skills, knowledge and expertise from others so that they can enhance their own NGO to survive during difficult financial times and continue their noble charitable activities to mankind. It is also to open their minds to alternative ways of raising funds in a competitive environment.

Attendance

The total attendance for the Forum was about 200 people representing a variety of NGOs from Sarawak, Kelantan, Malacca, Perak and the Klang Valley as well as individuals, guests and Rotarians. A full list of those who attended is attached in Appendix A. A roll call by IPP Kana was also held and the participants were recognized at the forum.

Opening Ceremony

The NGO Forum was officially declared open by Y.B.Tuan Ganabatirau Veraman, the Adun for Kota Alam Shah N48. He also donated generously to cover the expenses incurred by the organizers for organising the NGO Forum. The participants for the NGO Forum were not charged any fee for attending the Forum. The kind financial contribution of the Adun helped us put the NGO Forum together.

Speakers

There were six speakers who addressed the participants at the Forum. The Program for the day is attached in Appendix B. They spoke on Good Governance, funds available from the Government and aid offered through CSR programs. Other topics included Networking, Communication & Smart Partnership, Setting the Fundraising Strategy and Planning & Managing Projects.

The speakers came on a voluntary basis to speak. No fee was paid to any speaker. The Organizer would like to thank (i) En Noraffendy b Abd Khalid (ii) Pn Sri Sharminy Naidu (iii) Rtn Siti Zubaidah Adil (iv) Mr Sha’in, (v) Dr Sudeep Mohandas and (vi) Mr Anthony Fernandez. Without the contribution of the speakers, this Forum would not have been a success.

Forum

There were two Q and A sessions held during the Forum. The participants were allowed to ask questions. The panel of speakers answered all the questions put forward to them. The participants were satisfied with the explanations given by the panel members. The first forum was chaired by PP Ali Engin and the second by PP Raja Gopal.

Presentation of Certificates

All the participants were given a Certificate of Attendance. The participants were pleased to receive the certificates.

Closing

PP Richard thanked the following for their contribution in cash and kind to make this forum a reality : Y.B. Tuan Ganabatirau Veeraman, DG Siti Subaidah Adil, En Noraffendy b. Abd Khalid, Pn Sri Sharminy Naidu, Mr. Sha’in, Dr Sudeep Mohandas, Mr. Anthony Fernandez, Yayasan Kelab-Kelab Rotary Malaysia, Top Glove, Dato Dr Lakshmanan, Panmour Villa Hotel, all Advertisers, Sponsors, Participants, the Press and all Guests.

The NGO Forum ended at 5.30 pm with a vote of thanks to the President and Members of the Rotary Club of Bandar Bukit Tinggi Klang for organising the forum.

Evaluation from Participants

Many participants felt that the Forum was a huge success and helpful to them. Many NGOs felt they have a clearer picture now on fund raising and how to run fund raising events. It also helped many to prioritize their fund raising strategies and use relevant methods to reach their desired goals. Many felt the speakers were very professional and rated them excellent in the evaluation form. They indicated that they are looking forward for more of such events.
